Gary Nidds

President

Gary is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a seasoned executive with over 30 years’ experience in the Accident & Health, Life, and Property & Casualty insurance and reinsurance industries. He has managed large books of business and multi-disciplined teams throughout his extensive professional career. Prior to starting up ORA&H in September 2023, Gary was Executive Vice President and leader of an extensive medical business portfolio and has held leadership and management positions at some of the largest global insurance and reinsurance organizations. His extensive product experience includes employer stop loss, ancillary medical, accident special risk, life and health insurance, and reinsurance products.

Julian Bannach

Senior Vice President, Employer Stop Loss

Julian has over 20 years' experience in the Accident & Health insurance industry. Before joining ORA&H in November of 2023, Julian was the head of a stop loss division within a large multinational insurance and reinsurance organization, overseeing all departments associated with underwriting, administering, and marketing employer stop loss insurance. Julian’s prior experience includes holding leadership and management positions within other large insurance organizations. Julian’s extensive experience includes employer stop loss, group captives, reinsurance, life, dental, disability, product development, and filing.

Scott Buchanan

Senior Vice President, Head of Business Development

Scott brings 36 years' experience in the Accident & Health industry. Before joining ORA&H in May 2024, he served as Senior Vice President at Large Reinsurance Company, overseeing a substantial portfolio of US Accident & Health programs. His extensive background spans roles as a carrier, reinsurer, Managing General Underwriter (MGU), and primary underwriter. Scott’s underwriting expertise covers a wide array of products, including employer stop loss, provider excess of loss, HMO reinsurance, disability, and fully insured medical, dental, life, and AD&D products.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Curry College and a Master of Business Administration from Pennsylvania State University with a concentration in healthcare.

Brendan Lyons-Keefe

Senior Vice President, Actuarial

Brendan is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries with close to 20 years’ experience in the Accident & Health insurance and reinsurance industries. He has managed actuarial functions and overseen large blocks of business throughout his professional career. Prior to joining ORA&H in August 2024, Brendan led the core actuarial team at one of the country’s largest dental insurers. His extensive product experience includes ancillary medical, employer stop loss, health insurance, and reinsurance products.

Elizabeth Brill

Vice President, Ancillary Products

Elizabeth has over 13 years' experience in the insurance industry. Before joining ORA&H in April 2024, she was the head of Accident & Health for an administrative technology platform, where she was responsible for product development, carrier and client relationship management, and overseeing the product and implementation teams. While in that role, she became an ancillary product subject matter expert, launching over a hundred products to market, including short-term medical, hospital indemnity, accident medical, critical illness, dental, and vision.

Melody Bautista

Assistant Vice President, Medical Management

Melody has 25 years' experience in healthcare and 14 years in healthcare insurance, stop loss, and reinsurance industry. Before joining ORA&H in August of 2024, Melody served as the Director of Clinical Data Analytics at a stop loss and reinsurance company.

Her responsibilities included:

  • Managing potential large claim medical exposures and mitigating risks by conducting clinical-claims analysis.
  • Providing risk projections.
  • Recommending case reserves.
  • Implementing cost containment solutions while optimizing the quality of care.

Before her work in stop loss and reinsurance, Melody worked in the healthcare insurance industry at a major health plan, utilization management at a leading academic medical center in Chicago, and the specialty pharmacy industry for a PBM.

As the Assistant Vice President of Medical Management, Melody will lead the large claim risk management, claims reimbursement, risk projection/analysis, and cost containment initiatives at ORA&H.
